Kurt Damron

President

Kurt has been the CEO of Highlands Aerial Park since 2016 and is ACCT Challenge Course Manager certified. He has been an active member of the NCAAA since 2017 and has served on the board since 2020. Most recently, his focus has been on marketing and communications including spearheading the recent website upgrade. Before entering the Aerial Adventure Industry, Kurt, along with his father and brother, owned a chain of paint and body shops throughout the Southeast. He received his BS in Business Administration and a minor in music from the University of Mobile in 2001.

In 2022, Kurt was nominated and accepted into Leadership Highlands, a community engagement initiative of the Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Visit Highlands, NC, whose purpose is to develop and empower emerging leaders who want to engage in the future of Highlands, NC.

In 2021, Kurt served on the ACCT’s Process Design Task Force whose mission was to craft the hiring process to replace the outgoing Executive Director. Kurt was then appointed as the Chair of the Hiring Task Force and was integral in helping the ACCT board of directors hire a replacement for the outgoing Executive Director. In early 2022, after months of hard work, the ACCT Board of Directors accepted the Hiring Task Force's recommendation and hired the recommended candidate.

In 2021, Kurt participated in and was a panelist for North Carolina State University's CREATE Academy. After recognizing his longstanding success in assembling and retaining a diverse team of passionate and driven employees, business leaders in the Mountain West region of North Carolina nominated Kurt to participate as a panelist to discuss employer best practices for recruiting and retaining employees and creating a positive workplace culture. CREATE Bridges is a national project led by representatives from NC State University in the Mountain West region, which currently focuses on research and planning efforts in the Retail, Entertainment, Accommodation, and Tourism sectors.

Kurt has been a member of and panelist for North Carolina State University's CREATE Academy, a cohort created to bolster the tourism and entertainment sector’s viability in the rural communities and regions of Western North Carolina.

In 2021, Kurt was asked to partner with WRESA (Western Region Education Service Alliance) to host business field trips, produce career highlight videos, and host teacher externships. The recorded video is shown to high school students in multiple school districts across Western North Carolina.

Kurt was also a panelist during Smoky Mountain Host's Outdoor Recreation Conference, served on the Membership Committee for the Rabun County Chamber of Commerce, served as a mentor for Rockdale County's Youth Apprenticeship Program, was the treasurer of a homeowners association, and has been actively involved with many other non-profits throughout the years.

In his free time, he loves spending time with his wife of 20 years, his 3 biological children, and 1 foster child, studying finance and investing, fishing, and hiking the mountains of North Georgia and Western North Carolina.
